Washington DC and New York Travelers! The last day we are in the Washington area we will be visiting Mt. Vernon, the estate of George and Martha Washington. This beloved estate was largely designed by the President as he considered himself an architect. Here are some photos from the 2021 Weldon Valley trip to DC. My daughter is pictured enjoying the view from Washington's porch overlooking the Potomac River. In the museum we will also be viewing Washington's false teeth. Contrary to popular belief, they were not made of wood, but were made from human teeth and probably cow and horse teeth. For additional information on our upcoming 2023 trip, please feel free to contact me at mschmeeckle@weldonvalley.org

DC and New York travelers! One of the places we'll be visiting in New York City this coming June is Ellis Island. This important part of the American story is vital to our understanding of the melting pot that our society embraces. If you believe your ancestors were processed through Ellis Island I encourage you to research their journey and see if you can find information about them prior to our visit to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. https://www.nps.gov/elis/index.htm We're looking forward to the trip! Good Afternoon. Because we had to move the game from the original date due to weather, our game tomorrow coincides with the championship game of the Lone Star League tournament. Lone Star informed me this morning that their Junior High Girls made the championship game. Unfortunately for us, this means that they can't play our Junior High GIRLS tomorrow. The boys will still play. This will be the last games of the Junior High season. The bus will leave at 1:30 tomorrow and the JH boys will play at 3:30. Our High School games will still start at 5:00 pm. Thanks for your understanding.

***GREAT NEWS*** Starting something new always comes with a few hiccups. I’m finding point variations between AR and RC varies to where we needed to make another adjustment. After visiting with Mr. Bauman this is our new chart. Bottom line is student success…

We have had to move back the start time to the basketball games on Friday to get officials to the game. The JH A games will start at 3:30. High School Girls will start at 6:00 with boys to follow. Thank You!

After discussions with Peetz this morning, we have decided to move the start time of the basketball games today to 3:00 pm. The girls will be playing in the big gym and the boys will play in the small gym at the same time today. This will allow us to get back to the school much earlier today. There has been much more snow in Peetz over the past couple of weeks and both schools feel that this is the best way to get the games in and get everyone home safely today. Students will be excused from class at 12:50 and the bus will leave at 1:00. Thanks

International Travelers! I'm very excited for our trip to England and France. June of 2024 will be here before you know it. We have 19 travelers going on the trip as of now, but there is still room for more. Since we have so many people going, this will be a private tour. If you have questions about the trip please reach out to me at mschmeeckle@weldonvalley.org One of the places we'll be visiting is the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles. My students should know this location from our study of the American Revolution and the work of our founding fathers in securing the help of the French. If you are looking for more information about our trip or you'd like to sign up, please refer to the link I have provided. There is still an early signup discount available. https://secure.passports.com/document/225FCBCBAFD8/
