After reading the story Stone Soup last week, the kids wanted to make their own at preschool. Thank you to the families who donated our ingredients to make it. The kids recipe that they created called for carrots, potatoes, cabbage, barley, and one stone to complete the soup! They ate the soup for snack and thought that they are good chefs!!
Students K-5 who are interested in playing baseball this Spring, please return the baseball forms to the school by Thursday. Thank you!
On Saturday, March 26th, the WV PTO is holding a Spring Craft and Vendor Market from 9 am to 3 pm. Great for Easter and Mother's Day Shopping! If you are interested in being a vendor please fill out the Google Form found on the WV PTO Facebook page.
Weldon Valley NHS Welcomes New Members
Weldon Valley High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society held an induction ceremony February 23 for its newest group of inductees. The ceremony took place in the Weldon Valley School cafeteria. Parents, family, friends, and staff watched as three new members were welcomed into this prestigious organization.
The ceremony opened with senior Hope Baessler leading the audience and members in the Pledge of Allegiance. LizAnn Jones, the club’s president, gave opening remarks, welcoming new members and the audience. Mr. Greg Edson, Dean of Students, followed, encouraging new members to focus daily on the numerous small tasks they can perform, demonstrating the tenets of service, leadership, and character.
The evening continued with a candle lighting ceremony, performed by the current members of the organization. The new members took their oaths and joined the more than one million students across the nation in this prestigious organization.
Mrs. Schnabel, club advisor, presented the new members as Mr. Edson, LizAnn, and Hope handed out pins and certificates.
After the ceremony, all enjoyed cake and punch.
The National Honor Society promotes recognition for students who reflect outstanding accomplishments, and it gives opportunities for those individuals to use their talents and skills for the improvement of society.

Blue Horizons Writing Conference
Several sophomores and juniors attended the local "Zoom" writing conference sponsored by Blue Horizon. Several Morgan County schools joined in the online conference where students participated in the author presentation given by Fort Collins author, Laura Resau. Ms. Resau will be giving individual presentations in the next two weeks, and our students are planning to be included in her schedule.
Please join the WV FFA Chapter on Tuesday, March 8th for the FFA Hired Hand Event. Come for dinner at 6 pm, and then stay for the event starting at 7 pm. Come for this fun filled night, hire a FFA member for 8 hours of work, and enjoyed some wonderful food!
On Thursday of FFA Week 2/24/22, the WV FFA members brought in their animals and equipment to teach about to the elementary students. Preschool though 6th grade attended Ag in the Classroom.
On Wednesday, 2/23/22 of FFA Week, three FFA members attended the FFA District Degree Review. These members are applying for their FFA State Degree.
On Tuesday of FFA Week, 2/22/22 the FFA Chapter sponsored a luncheon for the staff of WV to show them their appreciation.
Our WV FFA members kicked off FFA Week on 2/22/22! This class of FFA members are displaying the bat boxes that were constructed for use in our community and school.
Weldon Valley FFA members competed at the District 14 FFA Quiz Bowl Contest on 2/16 at Prairie High School. One team placed in the Bronze category and one team placed in the Silver category.
On Valentine's Day our FFA Chapter was visited by State FFA Officers, Zaiden Annen and Alfredo Barraza. Throughout the day our WV members enjoyed the leadership workshops presented by the State FFA Officers.

Due to insufficient numbers, we have cancelled the boys games on Friday and Saturday this week. We will play next on Monday 2/22 @ NJC at 5:30pm. We will still have parents/senior night at 4:45 pm on Friday before the girls game. Also, the girls game at Prairie will begin at 1:45 on Saturday to allow them to play a JV game with Peetz prior to the girls game. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks
Weldon Valley would like to thank all our logo contest participants! Over 40 entries were received! Our logo committee, consisting of alumni, students, staff, and community members- narrowed entries down to the top 5. With 178 voters, 63.5% of the votes were casted for entry #2, along with the Weldon Valley Board of Education voting unanimously in favor of the survey! We would like to take a moment to congratulate our winner- REBECCA DIXON!
As things progress, more information will be available surrounding our logo. Please remember the imagery (such as fonts, sizes, etc.) may slightly change once the logo is sent over to our design team to digitalize it professionally. We would like to send a big thank you to everyone who sent in entries- to our committee members- and a special thanks to Becky Groves, for bringing our hand drawn entries to life!
