We are excited to have our High School and Junior High Football schedules finalized. The schedule is going to look different from past years. When CHSAA announced the new schedules on Tuesday, we learned we would be playing in a different league this year. This change will be for this season only. Scheduling was also a bit tricky when the assigning of officials was thrown in the mix. Because of the referee shortages, we will be playing a Thursday and a Saturday game this year. We have set homecoming week as October 19th-23rd, with Arickaree/Woodlin as our opponent. Details about homecoming week will be released in the coming weeks. Here is the link to the schedule with games time and locations. GO WARRIORS!! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1c3qBEueWarYYsGmXaye6W3e4NdMj0u0nHwhcjhPt6X4/edit#gid=0

We apologize for this hiccup and are working diligently with our phone company to resolve this issue.

Good Evening Warrior Nation! We were extremely excited this morning as we heard that we will have an opportunity to play football this Fall. Unfortunately, volleyball will still be held in season C this Spring. This past week has been a whirlwind of information, and there will be more to come. Here is what we do know: 1. Official football practice will begin on Thursday, Sept. 24th. All athletes must have their physicals, all paperwork and fees paid in order to practice. 2. The first game will be the week of October 9th. 3. We cannot post a schedule yet at this time because CHSAA is still working out the details of the scheduling. 4. We are hoping to play the Junior High football season this fall as well. 5. We are looking at competing in a 6 game season with the option of adding a 7th game later in the season While we are excited for the season, we know there is a lot of information yet to come. We will do our best to keep Warrior Nation updated as we learn of things yet to come. As soon as we have a schedule completed, we will communicate that with everyone. Here is the link to the article from CHSAA today. https://chsaanow.com/2020-09-17/details-on-the-footballs-plan-for-season-a-and-season-c/

Recent federal law to support COVID-19 relief created the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program as an important nutritional resource to families who lost access to free or reduced-price school meals as schools across Colorado closed in response to COVID-19. P-EBT provides households with an EBT card funded with the value of the free school breakfast and lunch reimbursement rates for the days that schools have been closed in March, April, and May, which equals $5.70 per day. Those funds can then be spent on eligible food items at many local and online retail stores. For a list of eligible items, visit the USDA Food and Nutrition Service website. https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/eligible-food-items Families may apply for P-EBT cards online at https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdhs/p-ebt
Hello Warrior Family, this message is for the week of August 17th. With school starting Tuesday, August 18th we want everyone to be aware of a few changes. If you plan drop off your kindergarten through 12th grade student at school, you will need to use the new drop off area located in the bus lane in front of the elementary school. The student drop off area is clearly marked and two cars are allowed to drop students off at a time. Please do not let your student out of the car until you reach the drop off area. You will be greeted by a staff member who will quickly take the temperature using a touchless, infrared thermometer. The temperature must be below 100.4 degree F in order to be allowed to enter the building. You will be required to take your child home if they are running a fever. Our expectation for the first day is when students enter the building after their temperatures are taken, they must either go to the cafeteria for breakfast, to their homeroom, or 1st period class. Masks are required for all student’s 5th grade through 12th grade. Masks are recommended for all student’s, Pre-k through 4th. Please remember to bring your masks on Tuesday. Please do not bring your child early to school. We are not allowing students into the building until temperatures are taken and staff will start taking temperatures at 7:20 AM. Secondary students, please remember to bring your laptops. We know that the start of this school year is going to start a little different than normal but are extremely excited to have students back in our building. We have been working hard to provide an educational experience that will still be safe with high academic expectations. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Our expectation is always for this to be the best year ever no matter what is thrown our way! Have a great week and GO WARRIORS!
As a reminder, there will be NO open house at Weldon Valley School Monday evening.

Our family is excited to announce that Luke has completed his last round of chemo. He will have scans on June 26. Thank you Warrior Family for your continued support.
With summer upon us, it is a good time to schedule a sports physical for your athlete. Sports physicals are required before athletes can participate in school sport activities. We may not know exactly what sports may look like in the Fall, but it is always good to be prepared. Sports physicals are required every year and expire exactly one year from when the physical was completed. Physical forms can be found on our district web page under documents, athletics, and CHSAA forms.
Students-If you are having trouble with Scantron, I have posted troubleshooting directions in your counseling Google Classrooms. Please follow those steps! Thanks! Mrs. Chisum

Parents, We know how difficult this time is and understand how overwhelming remote learning can be. I can assure you that we are all feeling the effects of the changing style of the current instructional environment. We did want to clarify a few things for secondary students. We are currently allowing the opportunity for secondary students that have missing assignments from before Spring Break to make up that work. Students have the ability to turn in their missing assignments with no late penalty. All missing work from before break must be turned in by April 23rd in order to have the late penalty waived. The work that has been assigned through remote learning DOES have due dates and will be graded. All work is expected to be completed on time! Late work that is less than one week late will receive a 10% reduction of points. Work that is turned in more than one week late from the due date will receive a 50% reduction of points. Late work will not be accepted for points after two weeks. All the new graded work will continue from the grade your student had in each class from before the break. Please notice the difference between missing work before break and current work being assigned. The toughest part of this current educational situation is the understanding that even though we don’t have students entering our school every day there is still the expectation that school is still in session and is continuing. It is still the student’s responsibility to complete the assigned schoolwork by the due date. Students need to understand that this is not a vacation and school work expectations still apply. As a school, we are responsible to the Colorado Department of Education for student learning. We are trying our best to have a healthy and realistic balance for school work. We are attempting to assign approximately 3 to 4 hours a day of schoolwork. We understand that timeframes are difficult when every student is learning differently and technology adds potential problems as well. That is much less time than the normal 8.5 hour school day. I assure you we are doing our best to not add undue stress to you and your family, and we appreciate your continued support. Please continue to reach out to us if you have questions or concerns. Sincerely, Bob Petterson and Ben Bauman

March 23, 2020 Dear Weldon Valley School community members, The Weldon Valley RE-20J Board of Education met Friday evening to address the COVID-19 pandemic. As anyone could probably guess, these are extremely challenging times for public education. Our goal remains the same regardless of the situation. We want to do the very best we can to support and educate our students. Teachers and staff will start Monday, March 23 working to deliver learning on-line, where appropriate. Our hope is that we will be up and running by mid week. At this time, we continue to seek out students and families that need WiFi and/or computers or chrome books. In cases where we have no choice or where it is more appropriate, we will deliver learning packets to our students. School lunches will continue for those students that wish to receive them. Our plan is to take telephone orders between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and deliver them to points within the District for pick-up around noon. In those cases where parents work and won’t be able to pick up the lunches we will deliver them to the residence. Lunch prices will remain the same and those students who receive free or reduced price lunches will continue to do so. Events at the school have been canceled or delayed until April 17. Hopefully, restrictions will be lifted after that date. Regardless, if at all possible, we will reschedule important student events. Our students deserve the experience that school events and activities offer. Please check our website, www.weldonvalley.org, our Weldon Valley phone app, the Weldon Valley facebook page and @WeldonValleySD our twitter feed frequently. We will be posting instructions and information that will help answer questions. We invite parents to call with questions. Communication will be extremely important during this crisis. Needless to say, we are counting on support from students, parents and community members. I’ve witnessed challenging times at Weldon Valley in the past and in every case we worked through those times successfully. This will be no different. When this is all over we will be able to look back and realize with proof that Weldon Valley is a special place with outstanding dedicated people who are willing to work together to overcome any adversity that presents itself. According to the Macmillan dictionary blog, today the word warrior is frequently used to describe a person who is very strong and doesn’t give up easily. That’s us! We are the Weldon Valley Warriors! Sincerely, Bob Petterson
The special board meeting has been moved to Friday at 6:00 pm due to weather.
March 19, 2020 Dear Warrior Family: Weldon Valley School District continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation and is in close contact with the Morgan County Emergency Manager, the Northeast Colorado Health Department and the Colorado Department of Education. Out of an abundance of caution and to allow time for the situation to stabilize, Governor Polis has closed all schools in Colorado until April 17th. There is 1 confirmed case of COVID-19 in Morgan County currently, we want to practice the recommended social distancing and avoid large gatherings of people. Practicing good hygiene and staying home when ill are simple actions that empower us all to help protect our most vulnerable friends and family (the elderly and those with underlying health conditions). If you feel like you or a family member have symptoms (fever, cough, respiratory illness) please stay home and call your primary care provider for guidance. We also want to help dispel rumors and fear by providing the following link to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which has the most up to date information. https://www.cdc.gov Another great resource is the Colorado Help Line. Call 303-389-1687 or 877-462-2911 to talk to a real person. You can also email COHELP@RMPDC.org for answers in English and Spanish. Together we can help ensure the health and safety of our community. Bob Petterson Ben Bauman
