Class Code: HWBT8

 Shana Martin

This will be my second year back at Weldon Valley Early Childhood Center.  When I started volunteering in the preschool 19 years ago, I knew that I had found my calling in life and that I could make a difference in children’s lives!  So, 18 years ago I started my career in Early Childhood Education as the Group Leader of Weldon Valley Preschool and then moved into the Director position the following year.  I began my Early Childhood education at Aims Community College with a Director’s Certificate and I have finished my Master’s Degree through CU Denver in Early Childhood Leadership.

I have been married to my husband for 24 years and call the valley my home.  We have two wonderful children; Jonathan who has finished his AA in Early Childhood and is Director Qualified; he will be attending UNC to finish his BA and Jessica who is finishing her BA in Rangeland Management at Chadron State College.  They both attended Weldon Valley Preschool/Elementary and graduated from Weldon Valley High School!

All Day Classroom Teacher

I began my preschool journey 14 years ago when I started here at Weldon Valley Preschool as the Janitor and Lunch Aide.  I knew this was what I was meant to do and began taking Early Childhood classes at NJC where I obtained my Group Leader and Director Certificates.  I was hired for the teaching position 10 years ago and have loved it ever since the first day!

I have been married to my husband, Tim, for 33 years and he is the Transportation Director at Weldon Valley School.  We have one son, Jericho, who is 25 and is married to Allie; they live in Weldona.

I am excited to be part of the Weldon Valley Preschool for my second year.  This is my fourth year of teaching preschool.  I am finishing my Alternative Teaching Licensure Program this fall.

I have three grown children and one grandson who I adore.  My husband and I have lived in Wiggins for 16 years.  My favorite hobbies are quilting, training mustangs, and taking college courses.

This will be my second year as a teacher aide at Weldon Valley Preschool.  I have enjoyed teaching children and love seeing them grow through the year.  I have begun my education in Early Childhood Education through MCC.  I am blessed to be here and am looking forward to another year.
