Weldon Valley FBLA is more than a club, it is a door to a vast amount of opportunities, as well as a tool to teach students leadership and determination. We strive for excellence in every facet, but we are also having a good time. Come and learn more about us! 

FBLA: A Timeline

1937-Hamden L. Forkner of Columbia University in NYC proposes a national organization for the numerous business clubs in high schools and colleges across the nation.

1940-The National Council for Business Education sponsors the proposed organization. They select the name, “Future Business Leaders of America” as the name of the organization.

1942-The first FBLA chapter is started in Johnson City, TN. During the next 3.5 years, 77 chapters joined.

1947-Iowa becomes the first FBLA state chapter. Within the next 3 years, state chapters will be up to ten.

1958-The post secondary club, Phi Beta Lambda is formed. The University of Northern Iowa is the first PBL chapter.

1969-FBLA-PBL is granted non-profit educational student association status.

1979-FBLA-PBL board of directors approves establishment of FBLA-PBL Alumni Association.

1987-FBLA membership tops 200,000.

1989-Professional Division is formed to include professional businesspeople.

1994-The FBLA Middle Division is formed for students in grades 5-9. 

 

FBLA GOALS

· Develop competent, aggressive business leadership.

· Strengthen the confidence in students and their work.

· Create more interest in the American business enterprise.

· Encourage members in the development of individual projects that contribute to the improvement of home, business, and community.

· Develop character, prepare for useful citizenship, and foster patriotism.

· Encourage and practice efficient money management.

· Encourage scholarship, and promote school loyalty.

· Assist students in establishing occupational goals.

· Facilitate the transition from school to work.
